Even before the official launch event, the first print run of 190 copies of Village Voices sold out within two weeks.
Following a second print run, we are now delighted to be able to offer for sale this wonderful anthology from Marsden Community Poetry.
Conceived by the community group, Village Voices is a collection of delightful, often quirky, poems inspired by humanity and nature, ranging from the laugh out loud to tear-jerking reality. Poetry intertwined with illustrations that bring a refreshing beauty to this intelligent anthology of new voices that evoke the every essence of the South Pennines.
All proceeds from the sale go towards the publication of Village Voices Volume 2 in 2024. Submissions of poetry and artwork for Volume 2 are open until the 31 October 2023 – full details on how to submit are included with the book. Please do not send any work to Maytree – we’re sorry but we are not involved in the editorial process.
Please note that the book is despatched by Marsden Community Group.
Here’s what some of the early readers have to say:
My book came this afternoon just wanted to say how absolutely beautiful it is.
I think it is the prettiest anthology I have ever featured in.
Thank so much for all your efforts you should be very proud of yourself.
Well done
I have received the book thank you. What a credit it is to you. The cover and
illustrations are really good. I know how difficult it is to produce a book as I
published my own book of short stories for my charity Leeds Spinal Surgery
Research Fund, and it wasn’t easy. I will certainly enjoy the book and will read out
some of the poems at my Poetry Group at Rastrick Library.
I will almost certainly submit some poems for your approval for the next book.
Kind regards
My copy of Village Voices has arrived and I’ve paid for it.
It looks tremendous – everyone must be so pleased.
Thank you for all your hard work and creativity –
Best Wishes
